"Willow"

an animatic

For the past two months, I’ve been working on my first animatic to the song “Willow” (by the Arcadian Wild).

In case you don’t know, and animatic is like an animation, but it’s much rougher and more more storyboard than animation proper.

This animatic tells two stories. The first story, Shrike, is about three young gods who become friends…until fear and love break them apart.

The second story, Passerine, is longer, and tells the story of a god and his best friend’s two sons, who are, unfortunately, quite mortal.

The stories collide when the green god (from Shrike) incites a war against the kingdom in Passerine.

Here are all the characters shown in the animatic:

The Forest god: color theme - blue

The War god: color theme - red

The Green god: color theme - green (obviously)

The god of Death & Freedom: man with wings

Wilbur: the boy with the crown, son to the god of Death

Tommy: the boy with yellow flowers, brother to Wilbur

The Blood god: elf-looking character with a cloak, best friend to the god of Death

A young solder: has goat-like ears (he only appears briefly)

Wilbur and Tommy’s mother

The Blood god’s sister: appears near the end

Wilbur’s son: redheaded boy with the emerald necklace

Karl: a time traveler who finds these stories in a library (appears at the beginning and the end).

This post is a little different than usual, and I don’t plan to do videos regularly. I just was pretty proud of this and wanted to share it.

I hope you enjoy it! I’d love to hear what you think in the comments. This is my first time doing this, so there were a LOT of learning curves.
