Some Fine Fine-Tuning
A Life Update of Various Proportions
Where have you been, Elisabeth? you ask. All the newsletters so far have been short writing snippets or rehashed poetry!
This summer has been pretty busy. Now that I think back, it flew by much faster than I expected. Summers usually do that. So do Autumns. And Springs. Winters always seem to drag their feet though.
So here’s a little fine-tuning into the Life of one Elisabeth Biggs. First off, let’s start with the basics! What have I been up to?
The Roller Coaster of Life
Which I do not meet the height requirements for.
Throughout June and July, I did exactly two things every week. College Spanish classes and work. It got a little monotonous, but a little monotony is the grease to the wheels of routine. (Don’t quote me on that.)
In June I had the opportunity to visit with several friends from my online writing community! We’ll call them Rowen and Blue Eagle.1 Rowen visited for a weekend (we got to see a movie2, go on a hike, and do various other activities), while Blue was here for a summer camp. I had a lovely time with them both.

In July I started visiting the local library more often. While I was there with a friend, I noticed they were hosting a raffle for free tickets to the county fair. With low expectations, I entered my name and my mom’s. Unfortunately, I forgot to tell my mom about this. A few days later she got a call from the library. Low and behold - we’d won! So our family went to the county fair and had a jolly time.
In August I worked a weekful of my full time shifts and finished my Spanish classes!
Over the last two months, I also got to participate in Short Story Summer Camp, led by Johnathan Rogers and Andrea Yenne. More on that in the next section.
Media: Entertainment & Creativity
Over this summer, I watched a remarkable amount of anime. I don’t have the time (or space) to go into each one, so I’ll just provide a list and my personal rating for each. Heads up - anime tends to have wild English titles, so have fun with those.
Fruits Basket 2017 & 2001 (rewatch!) 10/10
Ouran High School Host Club 10/10
The Disastrous Adventures of Saiki K! 10/10
Romantic Killer 10/10
7th Time Loop (rewatch!) 8/10
Solo Leveling 8/10
The Gorilla-god’s Go to Girl 6/10
A Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess 5/10
An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess 7/10
The Forgotten Neverland 7/10
And if there was any more I can’t remember them, which says more about the show, honestly.
My family also got to watch Project Hail Mary, which was absolutely amazing.
With some Studio Ghibli movies releasing in the theatres (as well as Your Name), I’m sure the future months hold much more Japanese animation. Yippee!! Our family also wants to see the new Spiderman movie soon.
As far as writing goes, I had a wonderful time with Short Story Summer Camp. I got to read several really fascinating stories, besides writing my own.3
Recently, I’ve been listening to Nathan Evans (kudos to Sunsprite’s little brother for introducing me to him!) and trying to play some of his songs on the guitar.
I also was a to do a little bit of art! Thanks to Pinterest, I found some really cool Draw Your Squad pose outlines.

And here are the DYSes I used, if you artsy folks are interested in trying it out with your characters!

Finally…KITTEN UPDATE
Sawyer is doing well! She’s almost a year old now, and very pudgy. Here are some photos!4

There’s my life update! I’ll be heading off to various new adventures in the next few weeks. Hopefully I can find time to write about them and share some here!
Blessings to you all!
For privacy purposes, obviously. The name Blue Eagle was requested by the friend, in case you’re wondering.
The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act
My short story is called Of Cat & Crowns - and if you’re curious ask in the comments haha.
At this point in the newsletter, my brain died. In my defense, I was watching a collection of Derpy Hooves Muffins Voice Lines, recommended by my friend Ian. It was strange! It was entertaining! I got the impression watching My Little Pony would have given me so much more context to those videos…but I digress.
